So sometimes you want to write happy fic. Maybe even a bit of (urk) sap.
And it doesn't co-operate with you, because it all just gets clogged down in depressing introspection and you don't know what to do about it.
For me, what usually helps, is finding the correct type of music. This time, it took a bit of searching and in the end, I realized it wasn't actually happy music that I needed, but happy, vivid lyrics. Go digging through the memory banks and there, aha! A vague image of a song we used to sing back in school, some frantic googling for the half-remembered words (wine, valley, gold?)
The internet knows everything, of course, although I did end up a bit disappointed with the vocal alternatives I could find. Doesn't matter, the song lyrics are exactly what I need for happy Luffy/Zoro fic (though whether I can actually translate my mental images into actual words still remains to see)
For future uses and in case anyone is curious about obscure Swedish songs set to Bach tunes, here you go - choral version and lyrics, with my translation.
As a bonus, I got to recall how you hand-code a html table. What fun -_-

Now it blooms in the embrace of the valley, now meadows and slopes are full of scent. Come on, come join us on a journey, in the happy time of spring! Every day is like a golden bowl, filled to the edge with wine. So drink, my friend, drick sun and scents, for the day is yours. |
Långt bort från stadens gråa hus vi glatt vår kosa styr, och följer vägens vita band mot ljusa äventyr. Med öppna ögon låt oss se på livets rikedom som gror och sjuder överallt där våren går i blom! |
Far away from the city's gray buildings we happily plot our course, and follow the white band of the road onwards to light adventures. With open eyes let us gaze upon life's richness which sprouts and teems everywhere where spring begins to bloom! |
As a bonus, I got to recall how you hand-code a html table. What fun -_-

Date: 2012-03-12 07:11 pm (UTC)... but Swedish is so buhyoo. I totally failed to exploit the convenience of having an actual Swedish native around and make her say stuff in Swedish. :(a How stupid of me.

Date: 2012-03-12 08:09 pm (UTC)Bach is a ninja.
Hellz yeah! Bach and psalms, you can't hum a tune without stumbling over them sometimes
This one, however, is a traditional Swedish folk melody with lyrics from one of our great classic songwriters. It's lovely and spooky especially when considered it's used as a lullaby. (also not my preferred version, but the best youtube has to offer)
