Dr. Calvin talking

Hello! I like to read and write fanfic and am now reviving my DW due to Tumblr fuckery.

My main fandoms are Rómeó és Júlia and other Hungarian musicals. I've made a DW community for those, you can find it at [community profile] hungarian_musicals

Also very fond of One Piece and Les Misérables, though I don't currently produce content in those fandoms. Sailor Moon and vintage shoujo are eternal favs. You can find my stuff on AO3 under the same name, drcalvin.

Tybalt WritespirationIf you are interested in what I am reading, I'm pretty good at listing it on Goodreads (though not at all good at reviewing, whoops). I'm drcalvin there too, and follow back everyone who introduces themselves. My main interests are fantasy, SF, urban fantasy, manga, indie comics. Especially interested in reading LGBT+ stories in all the named genres and media types.

Please beware the warnings, because some fics contain heavy kinks. And feel free to point out if I've missed something in a warning, or if you have general concrit. All very welcome

[sticky] Fanfic Masterlist to 2009 mid 2013

Fic Masterlist
There is a list of my work for Hetalia, One Piece and various minor fandoms I was active in in from the creation of this journal, to about 2013. You can find these fics in my memories.

Since I have mostly moved away from Livejournal / Dreamwidth as of summer 2013, and entering the Les Misérables and Rómeó és Júlia-fandom, I will not be regularly crossposting or updating this list.

My newer fics are more completely collected on Archive of Our Own, now and then I also put things on Fanfiction.net (but not the highest ratings).

Categories:

My fanfiction [G to PG-15]
My fanfiction [PG-15 to R]
My fanfiction [NC-17]

Please read the warnings carefully. I have written everything from sappy fluff to dark, kinky fic. Some NC-17 fics are locked to avoid problems with LJ, but in that case there are alternate links to AO3 in the memorized post.

Regarding Remixes, Translations, Podcast - basically, yes )

Ps. I always appreciate feedback ^_^

Music in Toil until the old colours fade I

Before I completely forget it all, I thought I'd make a collection of the music that go with the different chapters of my latest fic.....

I'm a very music-oriented writer, in the sense that everything but the shortest ficlet is connected to a specific song/artist/style of music... Since this is the first musical verse I've ever written for, it was quite different to attempt this with Les Misérables, and I've fiddled around with versions more than I ever have before.

Throughout the fic, the Original French Concept Album and either the movie soundtrack and a low-quality copy of the movie (pirated because the small file-size stopped my comp from freezing up) more or less looped in the background constantly. Best way bar none to get into writing mood was to just listen through all my favorite songs =)

Behind - or beneath? - the music is also the poem, When Earth's Last Picture is Painted which I've read and re-read far too many times x_X Here, have an odd choir version of it too...

Blathering on about my fics soundtrack )

ha-HA! Angst-bunny defeated

So sometimes you want to write happy fic. Maybe even a bit of (urk) sap.

And it doesn't co-operate with you, because it all just gets clogged down in depressing introspection and you don't know what to do about it.

For me, what usually helps, is finding the correct type of music. This time, it took a bit of searching and in the end, I realized it wasn't actually happy music that I needed, but happy, vivid lyrics. Go digging through the memory banks and there, aha! A vague image of a song we used to sing back in school, some frantic googling for the half-remembered words (wine, valley, gold?)

The internet knows everything, of course, although I did end up a bit disappointed with the vocal alternatives I could find. Doesn't matter, the song lyrics are exactly what I need for happy Luffy/Zoro fic (though whether I can actually translate my mental images into actual words still remains to see)

For future uses and in case anyone is curious about obscure Swedish songs set to Bach tunes, here you go - choral version and lyrics, with my translation.

Nu grönskar det i dalens famn / Now it blooms in the embrace of the valley )

As a bonus, I got to recall how you hand-code a html table. What fun -_-

[bemoaning the breeding season of plotbunnies]

Argh. Why do these bloody stupid counting sheep CD's keep giving me fic ideas?

Spain: I get the feeling that Prussia doesn't exactly care whether he's actually fine or not.
France: Well, he was born just for the purpose of fighting in battle.
Spain: Speaking of, where did Prussia go? I haven't seen him around lately.
France: Who knows? Maybe he's making some sort of cunning trap for the enemy. He went off in our strategy meeting yesterday too. The two of us and him are completely different fundamentally. It's not that big of a deal if we just leave him alone.

...Different? How? That's why he's not dead yet? And are they friends or not?

France: [Prussia] looks like he'd fall asleep easily. He's probably sleeping by now! He does have his "Whoa, what?!" moments in him, but when it comes time to battle, he's a dependable guy.

Yay~ I do like that there are canon hints that Gilbo's EPIC FAIL doesn't include fighting. Mainly because it matches my own headcanon...

And then the end, heeehe *gigglesnort* I may have to play the CD just to hear it out loud ^^; Maybe while I cook?

Bah. Darn plotbunniessheep!

*facepalm* I ought to buy a Pensieve

I completely forgot about this story that I wrote 30 pages of, before RL interrupted and got in the way of all fannish engagements. Not the story as such, I knew I had started it and jotted down some years and whatnot - but 30 pages? That's a bit more than the opening scene I remembered!

Well. I still think it moves too slowly and is clunky, clumsy crap for at least 12 of those pages. But the idea has merits and anyway, I've never written such a plotty story before. Will try to finish it before 2012...

(but really. 30 pages, forgotten? how??)

Also, any excuse to do research on Cold War era Berlin = good!

*snerk*

I'm just a little bit proud that of the four fics using the tag "Berlin Wall" at AO3, three are mine... Otoh, it would be awfully nice to find some new stuff to read there. In time, I hope there'll be more Hetalia fics hosted there with this tag, since it's one of my favorite topics ^_^

Also, I have not worked further on the sequel as I should but have instead written weird-ass shit involving Nazis. It is mostly my attempt to, y'know' reconfiguring being a rather vocal anti-Nazi/racism/prejudices person in RL with liking the characters of Prussia and Germany (ETA: Especially considering the setting Hetalia takes place in)
...but I feel it'll mostly come off as strange. And possibly offensive, so I dunno what to do with this shit

It's not even slash, so hell if I know if it fits posting at Meinbruder -_-

*stabs GIANT PLOTBUNNY OF DOOM*

goddammit, what this hugeass friggin fic doesn't need is a sequel. aaaarhhjhjh...

but I think it could be really hot. hohum

anyway, no part of "Close your eyes..." will be posted tonight. Computer difficulities, I'm posting this from someone elses comp and can't proofread here. Sorry :/
